Rockstar explains why GTA 6 skipped traditional gameplay trailer

Rockstar Games took an unconventional approach to presenting Grand Theft Auto 6. According to TheGamer, Rob Nelson, co-head of the studio, disclosed that showing gameplay would be "extremely tough," explaining the decision to use an Extended Look format instead of a traditional gameplay trailer.

The choice reflects Rockstar's carefully controlled marketing strategy for the title. The game launches on November 19, and the company maintains tight oversight of what and when information about GTA 6 is revealed to the public.

Meanwhile, Stephen Root, a voice actor known for King of the Hill, confirmed his involvement in the game during an interview with the Associated Press. Root shared that his character already appeared in the game's early promotional materials, nearly a year ago, but the secret "kind of got divulged" due to recognition of his voice.

Rockstar also harbors ambitious goals for the game's protagonists. According to GamesRadar, Nelson stated that the studio wants Jason and Lucia, the two main characters, to generate the same "emotional connection" that Arthur Morgan, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2, achieved with fans.
