The Metal Slug franchise celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026 with the launch of Metal Slug Ultimate Collection on Xbox. According to Xbox Wire, the collection brings together 10 carefully selected titles from across the series' history, spanning arcade, console, and handheld versions.
The standout feature of the collection is the inclusion of the legendary location test build, a version that was used for public testing in arcades during development but never received an official release. Though it has been a topic of discussion among fans for years, this will be the first time the title is playable on a home console.
The collection also introduces new features focused on accessibility, expanding the range of experiences available to players. Metal Slug Ultimate Collection marks the celebration of 30 years of legacy that began with the series' arcade debut in 1996.
