Naughty Dog has officially confirmed it is developing two new The Last of Us projects. The announcement came from Neil Druckmann, the studio's head, during The Last of Us Day celebrations on September 26.
According to Druckmann, both projects are in "very early stages" of development and the company cannot share details at this time. The executive stated that both productions will expand The Last of Us canon beyond Part I and Part II.
Druckmann emphasized that the studio would only return to the franchise if it had something meaningful to say. "The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn't return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling," he stated.
The announcement marks Naughty Dog's continued commitment to the franchise, which includes the release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered for PlayStation 5 in January 2025. Reveals about the new projects are expected at an unspecified future date.
