Capcom has confirmed to Eurogamer that the Resident Evil Veronica remake will include story adjustments to the original title to better align with the series' broader narrative arc. Since Code: Veronica launched 26 years ago, the franchise has undergone substantial changes that the remake must account for.
Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi stated during a private Q&A session that the studio is "putting players' memories first and then rebuilding the game from there." This approach reflects Capcom's strategy of revisiting classic titles while integrating them with recent franchise developments, as demonstrated in previous remakes.
The remake was announced for Switch 2 and will arrive in 2027. When asked about bringing the original Resident Evil Code: Veronica X to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service, Hirabayashi indicated there are currently no plans to do so.
