Super Mario Sunshine comes to Nintendo Switch Online in August

According to Siliconera, Super Mario Sunshine will be added to the subscription service's catalog on August 13, 2026 through the Nintendo Classics app on Switch Online. The game is the Mario series spin-off originally released for GameCube in 2002.

The announcement came alongside confirmation that two previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles, D-Hopper and Zero Racers, will arrive on the service two days earlier on August 4. Both were developed in the late 1990s and were meant to launch in 1996 had the Virtual Boy not been discontinued. D-Hopper is a fantasy action-adventure from Intelligent Systems, while Zero Racers is a 3D racing game inspired by F-Zero.

Nintendo promoted the announcements through a trailer themed "Enter the Third Dimension" and showcased gameplay from the Virtual Boy games. With Super Mario Sunshine joining the lineup, the GameCube classics catalog on Switch Online expands, offering more options for subscribers.
