The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past arrives in 2025 with dreamier tone

Confirmed: The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, the third expansion for CD Projekt Red's RPG, is coming in 2025. The news arrived alongside the launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on September 29th.

According to VGC, Karolina Kuzia-Rokosz, creative vision director at support studio Fool's Theory, explained the motivation behind returning to the world: "It was a great opportunity to tell something new about already established characters and to show them from a different angle." The expansion will be a fully-fledged story with focus on Geralt and his companion Dandelion.

Per Rock Paper Shotgun, the expansion's tone mirrors that of the Blood and Wine expansion, being "a lot dreamier" than a typical Witcher tale. According to PCGamesN, it's possible to play Songs of the Past without the other expansions, but the game will recognize events from prior DLC content that players completed or skipped.

The expansion marks Geralt's final major chapter before The Witcher 4 arrives.
