Ubisoft shutting down Champions Tactics in October

Confirmed by Ubisoft on the project's official Discord, the tactical RPG Champions Tactics will be shut down on October 30, 2025. Servers will go completely offline and players will lose access to the title, though they will retain ownership of digital items they purchased.

The game was one of Ubisoft's last major bets on Web3 and blockchain gaming. The company had already removed NFT functionality from the title in May this year, launching a revamped version called Reforged on Steam. However, the pivot failed to attract players in meaningful numbers.

Champions Tactics was a blockchain-based tactical RPG designed to integrate cryptocurrency assets into gameplay. The decision to shut down servers marks another step in Ubisoft's retreat from the Web3 ecosystem, after years of betting heavily on a trend that lost momentum with the gaming audience.
