Halloween: The Game removes sex minigame following controversy

Halloween: The Game had a sex minigame removed by developer IllFonic days after the deluxe edition early access launch, according to player reports and coverage by gaming outlets.

The feature allowed two players to enter a closet for a sex scene that granted character buffs. The removal came in a silent weekend hotfix with no mention in patch notes, though Steam comments from players made the change clear.

According to IGN, the removal followed a viral video of the minigame. The clip showed character Samuel Loomis, a man in his 50s modeled after late actor Donald Pleasence, in a scene with teenage character Annie Brackett, a 17-year-old in the game's universe. Destructoid reported this scenario was "entirely unacceptable" given that some characters are underage while potential partners span vastly different age ranges.

Halloween: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer adaptation of the 1978 film where players control both Michael Myers and a team of survivors. Full launch is scheduled for September 8 on PC, following several days of early access for deluxe edition purchasers.
