It's official: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arrives on Switch 2 on November 5. Nintendo showed gameplay of the remake during its 40-year celebration Direct for The Legend of Zelda, confirming a date that had leaked weeks earlier.
The game has been rebuilt from the ground up for the new console. According to IGN, the version features a completely new 3D visual style unlike any Zelda released before. Changes include the ability to jump manually, dash, quickly swap items on the fly, and use motion controls to aim.
Another addition is the Threads of Time system, a menu that functions as a quest log and showcases your accomplishments like a tapestry. The core structure of the adventure stays true to the original N64 release, but with these modernizations to the gameplay experience.
Nintendo chose to launch the remake the same month as Grand Theft Auto 6, a rare move among publishers, few risk competing with GTA in November. The release marks one of Switch 2's biggest titles before year's end.
